I enjoy science communication, it brings knowledge and research to life, to both other researchers and the general public. It’s not just about sharing information it’s about sparking interest, building understanding, and I believe it can foster younger generations to be involved in STEM.

Three minute thesis

National and University of Limerick champion for Three Minute Thesis, an international competition that challenges doctoral researchers to distil their research into a 3 minute summary suitable for the public to understand their research topic.

I enjoy bringing my research to the public as I think it is so important to showcase the doctoral talent here in Ireland and to highlight the impact of brilliant researchers are having on science and innovation.

Cancer Revolution exhibition

As part of Breakthrough Cancers Research, Cancer Revolution exhibition, my research project was featured in the exhibition to highlight the advancements being made in post-cancer care and support.

ESB Science Blast

The ESB Science Blast is a non-competitive educational programme for primary schools to investigate the science behind a simple question.

 

I have volunteered to be a judge as part of the ESB Science Blast for the last four years. I think initiative likes these are so important for national school children, to be involved in science in an exciting way. I want to inspire the next generation of researchers in the country, and keeping children interested and engaged in stem is incredibly important.

Breakthrough cancer research PPI

Breakthrough Cancer Research prioritise Public Patient Involvement in their work and in their research. The goal of PPI is to improve the quality and relevance of research. As PPI has been so important for my research project, I am always so honoured to be able to showcase my work at their PPI events, to show newcomers to their PPI events how critical it is to our research and how their experience with cancer can shape research.
